Was born in January 1976 in Athens, Greece. He lives and works in Athens,
the capital of Greece. He is an Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Shoulder, Knee, and Sports Orthopaedics. He is married with two children.
He received his degree from the Medical School of the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens (2003). He followed this up with a residency training program in Trauma & Orthopaedics in the 2nd Orthopaedic Department of the same University. He undertook a shoulder fellowship program at the Centre of Shoulder Arthroscopy and Open Surgery of Athens (an ESSKA and ISAKOS accredited teaching centre). He has also completed an MSc degree (2010) in "Metabolic bone diseases" and his PhD thesis (2018) in "Finite Element Analysis". The 3rd Orthopaedic Department of Hygeia Hospital (an ESSKA and ISAKOS accredited teaching centre) appointed him for a consultant position in 2017. In 2020, he was nominated as Associate Director of this department. He is also available for private consultations at his office (Brilakis).

He currently is an attending physician for many high-level athletes of track and field, gymnastics, basketball, martial arts, etc, and he is also consulting Basketball and Track & Field Teams.
He is actively involved in research, having published articles and book chapters in national & international publications. He regularly teaches in post-graduate training programs at Athens Medical School. He is an active member of the National (Athens Medical Association, Hellenic Association of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology, Hellenic Arthroscopic Association, Hellenic Osteoporosis Foundation) and International (ESSKA, ESA-ESSKA, ISAKOS, AAOS, AANA, SECEC/ESSSE) Societies. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of ISAKOS. He was elected to the Board of the Hellenic Association of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology (HAOST) for the periods 2017 (Member), 2020-2021 & 2022-2023 & 2023-2025 (Treasurer). Currently, he is a Board member of ESA (a Section of ESSKA) for 2022-2024, and he will be announced as Vice-President of the same organisation next May for 2024-2026 and President for 2026-2028. He is also the Chair of the Communications Committee of ISAKOS (2023-2025).
