He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in Ljubljana and gained experience during his studies as an scrub-assistant in orthopedic,
cardiovascular, and plastic-reconstructive surgical procedures in Slovenia, the USA, and Austria. He continued his specialization in orthopedic surgery at the Valdoltra Orthopaedic Hospital. He is subspecialized in sports injuries and is performing all types of meniscus suturing, including the most advanced "all- inside" method, one of which he also develop. He performs state-of-the-art patellar stabilization techniques (MPFL, MPTL, TT osteotomies, trochleoplasty), ligament reconstructions (ACL, PCL, PLC, MCL), other knee osteotomies, and patellofemoral prosthetics. He also performs open and arthroscopic procedures on the ankle.
He pursued additional training in Lyon, France, and Texas, USA.
Dr. Novak actively participates in international congresses (ESSKA, ISAKOS, EFORT) and is also an organizer of local ones. He is enrolled in a doctoral postgraduate program in biomedicine and is a co-author of several chapters on knee surgical techniques in a book published by Springer.
