General scientific and work interests
My main fields of interest are primary and revision total hip and knee arthroplasty, as well as foot and ankle surgery.
Education
I obtained my PhD in medical sciences in 2012 at the Medical Faculty, University of Ljubljana. In 2004, I completed a Master of Science in medical sciences at the same faculty. I became a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon in 2001 and graduated as a medical doctor in 1996, also at the University of Ljubljana.
Employment
Since 1998, I have been employed at the Valdoltra Orthopaedic Hospital. Previously, I worked at the University Clinical Centre Ljubljana and the General Hospital Celje in 1996.
Scientific and teaching elections
In 2021, I was elected Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Maribor. In 2018, I became an Assistant with PhD at the same faculty, while in 2013 I held the same position at the Research Institute of Valdoltra Orthopaedic Hospital. Earlier, in 2004, I served as an Assistant with MSc at the same institute.
Appointed positions
Between 2020 and 2023, I was the Slovenian representative in UEMS (European Union of Medical Specialists – Orthopaedics and Traumatology). Since 2020, I have been an advisor for the National Arthroplasty Registry of Slovenia. In 2016, I was appointed as a member of the Supervisory Board of Valdoltra Orthopaedic Hospital. From 2015 to 2020, I served as a member of the Scientific Council for Orthopaedics at the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Slovenia. In 2015, I also acted as an examiner at the European Board of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EBOT). In 2012, I became a member of the Scientific Council for Orthopaedics of the Slovene Medical Society, and from 2012 to 2013, I represented Slovenia in the European educational platform (EFORT). In the same year, I was appointed head of the endoprosthetic service at Valdoltra Orthopaedic Hospital.
Bibliography
I am the author of 26 original scientific papers published in international and domestic peer-reviewed journals. I have contributed 158 presentations at domestic and international conferences, including 30 invited lectures. Additionally, I co-authored two book chapters published by an international publishing house. I also serve as a reviewer for journals in the field of orthopaedics.
