Dr. Žiga Kozinc is an assistant professor and research associate at the Faculty of Health Sciences,
University of Primorska, where he has also served as Vice-Dean for Research and International Cooperation since 2024. He completed his doctoral studies at the same institution in 2021, after previously earning his master's and bachelor's degrees in kinesiology. His research focuses on biomechanics, muscle function, assessment methods in sports and physical therapy, and injury prevention. He is the (co-)author of more than 180 scientific articles and has been cited nearly 1,000 times in international literature. He contributed to a university textbook, two book chapters, and a patent in the field of human movement evaluation. He serves on the editorial boards of five international journals (including PLOS ONE and the Journal of Human Kinetics) and is a guest editor for special issues in journals such as Frontiers and the Journal of Functional Morphology and Kinesiology. As a project leader, he has successfully conducted several national and bilateral projects, including an ARIS postdoctoral project on eccentric quasi-isometric training and collaborative projects with universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the United Kingdom, and the United States. He is also actively involved in European projects and in ARIS research programs. He has received several awards, including the Solemn Charter of the University of Primorska, and mentors numerous undergraduate, master's and doctoral students. He has also completed short-term research visits in the Netherlands and the United States.
