Prof. Dr. Andrej Cör is a distinguished specialist in orthopedic pathology, recognized for his groundbreaking research in orthopedic infections. In recent years, his scientific focus has been dedicated to the study of orthopedic infections, with his research group leading Slovenia in exploring the medical applications of bacteriophages, particularly in medicine and dental medicine.

He has played a key role in numerous national and international research projects, significantly contributing to the development of innovative diagnostic and therapeutic methods for infection management. Notably, he has led and participated in three major international projects—IMBI, IMMUNO CLUSTER, and ARTE—which have advanced biomedical approaches to infection diagnosis and treatment.

Prof. Cör's scientific contributions are extensive, with over 130 publications in prestigious international journals. He is the author of five book chapters and several textbooks, and he serves as the Executive Editor of the international journal Radiology and Oncology.

Beyond research, he is a dedicated educator. As a full professor at the University of Primorska, he teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate courses and actively contributes to the doctoral program in Biomedicine at the University of Ljubljana, fostering the next generation of researchers with a strong emphasis on innovative medical approaches.

His work seamlessly integrates scientific excellence, cutting-edge research, outstanding pedagogy, and societal engagement, positioning him as a leading figure in biomedical sciences both in Slovenia and internationally.

Our hospital was founded in 1909 as a sanatoryum for bone diseases for the Austro-Hungarian Empire. After World War I it was renovated by the American Red Cross. In 1920 it was taken over by the Italian Red Cross and after WW II Valdoltra became part of Yugoslavian health systeme. It turned to orthopaedics and in early 1961 was renamed Valdoltra Orthopaedic Hospital.
